Apply for Free Program

Letters should be submitted by the end of September for consideration.  Please send your letters to info@chessforsuccess.org

To qualify for the free Chess for Success program, schools must have a student population with more than 50% qualifying for free or reduced lunch or be a Community Eligibility Provision school. If your school fits this requirement, please submit a formal letter on school letterhead, signed by the principal, stating:

  • Percent of students receiving free or reduced lunch in the school or certification of CEP status.
  • Why Chess for Success would be a good fit for the school.
  • Whether or not the school has a teacher or employee to coach.

The letter of request does not guarantee that Chess for Success will be able to sponsor a club at the school. If you have an interested third party (PTA, Rotary Club, etc.) who may be able to assist with funding, that would certainly enhance the chances of establishing a club at your school.

The Chess for Success season runs from October to late March. Schools receive notice in September whether they have been accepted as a school site. Clubs typically will not be added in the middle of the school year.
